Type 2 1-phase 32A (Mennekes)

Charge your electric car quickly and safely at home with a Type 2 home charger on 1-phase 32A. Ideal for EVs with a 7.4 kW on-board charger and a regular mains connection.

Home chargers Type 2 1-phase 32A: fast charging on a standard connection

A 1-phase 32A home charger with Type 2 (Mennekes) connection is the perfect solution for electric cars that charge up to 7.4 kW via a regular 230V connection. These chargers are designed for households without power current, but with sufficient capacity on one phase. This way you can charge your EV efficiently and safely - without major installations.

The Type 2 connection is the standard in Europe and works seamlessly with almost all modern electric vehicles. Our chargers are CE-approved, equipped with integrated protections and suitable for mounting on the wall or charging station.

Which cars are compatible with a 7.4 kW home charger?

These chargers are suitable for cars with a 1-phase 32A on-board charger, such as:

  • Kia e-Niro, e-Soul (7.4 kW)
  • Hyundai Kona Electric (7.2 kW)
  • Nissan Leaf (6.6 – 7.4 kW, depending on year of manufacture)
  • Opel Corsa-e, Peugeot e-208 (7.4 kW)
  • MG ZS EV (7.4 kW)

Do you have an EV that supports 3-phase charging? Then this charger also works, but you only use one phase. For these models, a 3-phase home charger with 11 or 22 kW is more suitable.

Charging speed, connection and safety explained

A 1-phase 32A charger works on 230V and delivers a maximum charging capacity of 7.4 kW. This will charge an average of 35 to 40 km of range per hour. Charging is done via mode 3 (Type 2) and the charger automatically adjusts the power to the car. Each charger is equipped with:

  • Thermal and overvoltage protection
  • Earth leakage protection (often with DC leakage detection)
  • Locking the plug during charging
  • Load balancing and app control options (depending on model)

You do not need power current for this charging capacity. It is important that your meter cupboard has a 32A group available, preferably with its own earth leakage.

Frequently asked questions about 1-phase 32A home chargers

What if my car doesn't support 7.4 kW?

No problem. The charger will automatically adjust. For example, if your car supports 3.7 kW, it will charge at that lower power.

Is 1-phase 32A faster than 3-phase 16A?

They both deliver around 11 kW or less. A 1-phase 32A charger is often a little slower than a 3-phase 16A charger (11 kW), but faster than 1-phase 16A (3.7 kW).

Is a Type 2 charger suitable for all EVs?

Yes, all modern electric cars in Europe use Type 2. The plug fits and the communication between charger and car is standardized.
