Why a holder for your EV charger is essential
A charging cable is essential for electric driving – and therefore deserves a safe place when you are not using it. With a sturdy wall bracket or holder for your EV plug, you not only protect your cable from dirt, wear and moisture, but you also prevent tripping hazards and unnecessary wear of the plug. This is especially important for heavier 3-phase charging cables for 11 or 22 kW, which take up more space and are more susceptible to damage.
Our holders are CE approved and tested for compatibility with Type 2 and Type 1 plugs, and fit almost all mode 3 charging cables.
Which holder suits your charging solution?
Choosing the right holder depends on your situation:
-
For home use: a wall mount or plug holder at the charging station keeps your charging spot organized
-
For on the go: storage bags with integrated holder protect your cable in the trunk
-
For businesses: multiple wall mounts with lock or cable duct ensure secure storage at multiple charging points
There are also universal holders that neatly store both the cable and the plug. Always choose a holder that is suitable for the plug type (usually Type 2), the charging capacity (3.7, 11 or 22 kW), and the intended use (indoor or outdoor).
Type 2, mode 3 and 3-phase: what does that mean for your holder?
Charging cables with a Type 2 plug are the standard in Europe. These plugs are larger than Type 1 and require specific holders. With 3-phase charging, cables are thicker, which means that the holder must also offer sufficient space and load-bearing capacity. When charging in mode 3, always choose a holder that can withstand daily use and weather conditions if you are charging outdoors.
Frequently Asked Questions about EV Charger Holders
Can I put a Type 2 plug in any holder?
Not every holder is suitable for Type 2. Always check whether the holder is explicitly compatible with Type 2 plugs – this is stated with each product.
Are the holders also suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, many holders are designed for outdoor use and are resistant to rain, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations. Look for the IP rating for weather resistance.
Do I also need a holder for a fixed charging station?
Yes. Even if you have a fixed charging station, a holder for the plug or cable is recommended. This extends the lifespan and keeps the charging spot tidy.
