Bidirectional charging with Peugeot, how does that work exactly?

Bidirectional charging seems to be the next logical step in electric driving developments. However, to make this possible on a large scale, numerous steps are still needed, including in the development of car models that are suitable for bidirectional charging. Peugeot isn't a car manufacturer to watch in this regard for the time being, as developments in this area seem to be at a very low ebb. Is bidirectional charging already possible with your Peugeot, and what does it look like in the near future?

Can you already charge bidirectionally with your electric Peugeot?

No, there are no Peugeot models yet that support bidirectional charging. V2X and V2G are not yet available for Peugeot models, and there are currently no fully bidirectional models planned.

You can now charge bidirectionally with these Peugeot models

The Peugeot e-3008 comes closest to bidirectional charging with a V2L. You will, of course, need a V2L adapter for this. Peugeot is also working on the technology (primarily within the PSA Group), but unlike almost all other car brands, no concrete plans have yet been released for models that support bidirectional charging.

Peugeot and bidirectional charging: what can we expect in the future?

Peugeot isn't known as an innovative or progressive brand, so it's quite likely that this brand will explore its options in the near future after a long wait-and-see approach. The big advantage is that Peugeot can then draw on a vast pool of knowledge and immediately develop a strong model with all the options. The expectation is that Peugeot will choose a model along the lines of the 3008 with a powerful battery pack, thus making bidirectional charging immediately attractive.

This is what you want to know about bidirectional charging for your home or business

Peugeot still offers relatively few options when it comes to bidirectional charging. It's true that Peugeot has come a lot closer with the e-3008, and there's a good chance we'll hear news from France soon. At the same time, it's not surprising that PSA hasn't been so hasty, because a compatible car isn't enough to actually enable bidirectional charging at home or business. More is needed. First and foremost, a smart meter and a suitable network, and then a charging station that supports bidirectional charging. This makes it unlikely that bidirectional charging will be widely implemented anytime soon, and it increases the chance that Peugeot will introduce a strong option at the right time that will lure the brand's enthusiasts to dealerships.
